HISTORY History of Miss International

In 1960, Miss International Beauty Pageant was born in Long Beach, California.
In 1970, Japan had a opportunity to co-host the pageant with Japan World Exposition in Osaka. Since then, Japan became the host country and the pageants are mainly held in Japan.

Japan World Exposition Commemorative Contest 1970
The Miss International World Contest was organised as the main event of the Osaka World Expo.
It was the first time Miss Japan won a prize. She ended up on the 4th place receiving standing ovations from the public. The participant's parade organized in Ginza before the contest was also extremely appreciated, and the popularity of the contest became the catalyst for its further organization in Japan.
